Aim
  • To raise awareness of Child Trafficking, Forced Marriage, FGM, Witchcraft and Spirit Possession
  • To afford delegates an opportunity to gain a better understanding of these issues
  • To gain a broader understanding of the long-term implications for victims
 
Who should attend?
General Practitioners, Social Care and Health professionals (Health Visitors, Nurses, Midwives), Police Child Protection Officers, Head Teachers, Designated Child Protection Officers, Community Groups, Voluntary Agencies, Councillors, Children’s Services Managers and members of the Local Safeguarding Children Board.
 
Programme
The afternoon will start with presentations from the Harrow LSCB and Victoria Climbié Foundation followed by a screening of a powerful film directed by the talented Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembène, which tackles the issue of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Africa and illustrates the leading role that women on the grass root level are taking to eradicate this practice.
 
Over the next year Harrow LSCB will be working with VCF to develop awareness and practice around safeguarding children across culture and faith.
